Here it is: the revision of The Hungry Clock.
You are looking at 6-months of sweat equity. I know that's nothing in writer's years, but I needed to work to a deadline. Yes, I have finish-itis.
How about some fun-facts?
I went from 79,000 words to 41,000 words. The adult characters are scaled way back. The subplots (God bless 'em) are gone. The pigeon is now a dog named Percy. I wish the robots could have stayed. I cried at the end. There you have it.
What's next?
I have 220 pages to read line-by-line for corrections and continuity. I have five days to close. Calendar-wise I should do 55 pages a day and input the corrections at night so that I have Friday free to printout the final.
Start your watches. Pour the coffee. Here I go.
P.S.
You can follow me on Twitter. I expect most of the entries to be "sitting…editing…eating…editing…sleeping…obsessing…editing." The life of this writer makes for exciting reading, no? I'm looking forward to margaritas at 5pm on Friday.
You've earned way more than a margarita.
