Here's an update, a to-do list for me, and a nice picture of a flower.
First the update: I spent yesterday polishing the Eiderdown Stocking audio with Director/Editor Pat Jackson. We had recorded some alternate lines with Andrea and it was time to make the cuts. I'm glad Pat is a pro-tools wiz. The screen looked like a fever chart and her script binder was covered with post-it notes, but she made it look easy.
Task accomplished, we took a break over homemade pie and cappucinos. Pat read me an amazing alternative to Longfellow's The Song of Hiawatha (see Strong version under Parodies here). Inside...outside...indeed. I laughed and swore to knit her a mitten!
We also timed the musical segments. Michael Gold, the theme composer, had supplied an electronic sketch to work with. I brought along examples of music-to-voice segments from other audiobooks which Pat and I listened to on my laptop. In the end we came up with a good sample timing for our composer.
Not every audio has music, but I'm excited that Michael has signed on. I like the idea of setting a mood as if a curtain is going up inside the listener's head. We should be recording his final theme in August. I promise to post a snippet when we're close to final.
My To-Do List this coming month is a little daunting...
• finish the design of the Eiderdown Merit Badge • select and scan portfolio samples for an OkayKate website due to launch in the Fall • write a sample case history for same site • draft three more chapters on the second novel • outline a new Eiderdown story • get over it and finally balance my checkbook. Whew!
Two things I can cross off my list....
1. Test knit a hedgehog pattern.
2. Photograph the latest bloom in my neighbor's greenhouse.
I can't believe it's the end of June already. Happy Fourth to us and Victorious Canada Day to our northern neighbors!
