My break from the real world is fast coming to a close. Not to bore you with the details, but I've spend most of my working life as a publications designer. Magazines, brochures, business identity kits...I've done 'em and I love 'em, BUT that whole career was an accident. You see I started out as a journalist.
My journalistic adventure is a story for another time. What happened? I came to the crossroads, saw the sign pointed towards paying the rent and I took it. You might say cost-of-living was the devil in disguise.
It's no surprise that I've come back full circle to writing. Yesterday I was finishing a novel, today I'm drafting marketing materials for an audio project. Still it's impossible for me not to act as a designer, too.
Pictured above is the first draft of a new business card. The front is the top image (yay! I write). The second image is the back of the card (wow...I design, too). In this economy no one looks askance if you wear two hats to the interview. I'm sure my bank account will thank me.
P.S. I have a new domain name, but nothing will be up until the Fall. Yesterday I hired a web architect. Three hats is one too many for me and besides this guy is good at what he does.
All of your new designs are fun stuff, but this is very cool.
